Visiting the knives forge

Gilberto Ferreira, born in the village of Aveleda, is an artisan bladesmith that makes beautifully decorated and useful “transmontana” handmade razors and knives, using the techniques of ancestral cutlery in his artisan forge.

Many of the knives are decorated with animals on the blade and the handles are handcarved. The craftsman also makes customised knives for collectors and chef's knives, with the name of the client or the event he wishes to commemorate. It is really worth contacting him to arrange a visit.
